SPECIAL EVENTS & CELEBRATIONS

I.  PRE & MIDDLE SCHOOL ORIENTATION PROGRAMME 2024-2025

SPPS Convent School, Bhogpur organised its first Orientation Programme for the parents of new Pre & Middle School students from 1st March- 9th March 2024 in the respective Pre School classes. The programme commenced with a warm welcome for the parents by the class teachers followed by their introduction. The goal of the programme was to ensure that the parents are at ease about the transition of their little ones from playschool to formal school and to ensure parental participation in monitoring the performance of the students. The parents were made aware of the various aspects of the curriculum and the rules and regulations of the institution and the class.

The class teachers gave an overview of the teaching methodology through an immersive PowerPoint presentation focusing on the highlights of the curriculum, the prescribed textbooks and glimpses of the activities conducted during the previous academic year. The presentation gave the parents a small peek at the engaging curriculum with hands-on learning activities designed to provide the students with a medium to nurture their talents and ensure their all-round development. The teachers sought support and suggestions from the parents to provide the best growth opportunities for the children. The Orientation Programme helped the parents in identifying a common teaching strategy and suitable follow-up methods to reinforce the learning of the children.

II.  WELCOME PARTY: THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

“Wheat crop is ready for harvest.
Time to rejoice and feel nice
Fruits to reap of blood and sweat,
And get joyous and celebrate life.”

With this spirit the students of SPPS Convent School, Bhogpur celebrated Baisakhi with gusto and religious fervor. The educators came dressed in traditional Punjabi colorful outfits. A special assembly was conducted by the students of Grade VII to welcome the harvest season. The students highlighted the religious and cultural significance of the festival in an enlightening speech. A beautiful poem was recited which added flavor to celebration. Through dance, performances and Giddha, the students expressed their joy. On the onset of Sikh New Year and the founding of the Khalsa Panth, the students performed the traditional Bhangra, which depicted the real life of farmers of Punjab. The students of each Grade participated in assorted activities with high zeal and enthusiasm. The Toddlers , Rainbow Dazzlers Curious Champs and Creative Curators showed their creative skills also by making bubble wrap corn , Wheat Stalk with their thumb prints amidst the flourishing crop drawn by them on craft sheets.
The motive behind the celebrations was to apprise the students of the rich culture and heritage of Punjab.
The Chairman Mr. Jasbir Singh, The Managing Director Mr. Amandip Singh and The Principal Ms.Raminder Sharma conveyed their best wishes to all and urged them to remember the historical and agrarian importance of this festival.

IV. GURUPURAB CELEBRATIONS:

GURPURAB CELEBRATIONS WITH GUSTO

The Prakash Parv celebrations commenced in SPPS with a prayer in special assembly conducted by Grade V students. The students disseminated information about the life and teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji and were inspired to lead a life like him. He was a guru, scholar, and poet who contributed to Sri Guru Granth Sahib, which is considered the holy book of Sikhism. The warrior Guru Ji who fought for religious freedom is popular for his characteristics like thoughts, humanity, bravery, and dignity. Sakhis’, poems, speeches, Skit were the special features of the celebrations.

Shabads and holy hymns were sung by teachers and students. The teachers apprised students of the life of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. Our Managing Director Mr. Amandip Singh and Our Principal Ms. Raminder Sharma threw light on the importance of the day. The spiritual ambience of devotional day and ‘Ardas’ sparked a religious fervour in air.

V. JOY OF SHARING:

MAY DAY CELEBRATIONS

May 1st is celebrated as International Workers Day OR May Day. This day has its origin from the Labour Union Movement in the U.S. This day which marks the celebrations of the working class has put an end to their exploitation and unfair treatment. The SPPS Convention School also celebrated this day in the honour of labourers and the working classes by paying respect to the people who work for the School. The gifts were distributed to the housekeeping staff and the supporting staff of the School by the Managing Director of the School Mr. Amandip Singh and the Chairman of the School Mr. Jasbir Singh. The Principal Ms. Raminder Sharma stated that we must teach our children to have gratitude in heart for those who serve them and this day reminds us to be kind and respectful towards all those who help us on daily basis.

VI . MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS: MOM& ME

“Mother – A mother is like a flower, each one beautiful and unique”

The day that recognizes the essence of a mother was celebrated in high spirits and merriment in SPPS Convent School on the theme of MOM & ME. The mothers were affectionately welcomed to campus for celebrating their emotions with their wards.

Keeping this bonding emotion in mind, the SPPSIANS had a special celebration on mother’s day showing their warmth and affection by performing on stage for their mothers. Everyone experienced a power packed programme including a prayer, news update, poetic expressions, an enthralling song presentation, thematic dramatisation, speech presentation with mesmerizing dance performances. The mothers enthusiastically participated in fun filled games and tongue twisters. The moms came up with their presentation of ramp walk where mothers full on confidence became took the catwalk with songs playing in the background.
Our sweet Toddlers to Grade VII students had something more special and unique to bring a smile on their beloved mother’s face by interacting with their mothers in their classrooms . They passionately got involved in making beautiful greeting cards , prepared dishes and got participated in different activities with their mothers.
They intensely and devotedly spoke about their mothers. The white boards were decorated with the collages of mothers and their wards conveying an important message of being humble, respectful and obedient to the parents.

It was a pleasure watching the super excited moms with their dynamic and energetic wards during these activities. To capture this special moment of happiness and
emotion, a Photobooth was also set up in the school
premises and each mother got her pictures clicked
with her precious little as a token of remembrance of
this day. The moms carried back home little token of love made by their kids which filled the air with heart-warming feelings of love, gratitude and appreciation.

Our Managing Director Mr. Amandip Singh extended the greetings for the Mother’s Day to all mothers and educators and also addressed about the women empowerment. Our principal Ms. Raminder Sharma addressed and highlighted the multi-tasking abilities of super moms, from running homes as well as handling jobs and wished them a happy Mother’s Day.

It was an enjoyable and memorable day for each and every child which left an indubitable mark on the innocent hearts on MOM & ME thematic presentation on Mother’s Day occasion.

VII. PARENT- TEACHER COLLOQUIUM                                               

SPPS Convent School, Bhogpur organized its parent teacher colloquium on alternate months.  The event witness around 98% attendance thus displaying enthusiastic interest among parents for the smooth working and progress of the school.

The main objective of the meeting is to create a common platform, where teacher and parents come together to discuss student’s performance and devise ways to enrich their learning experience. The teachers brief the parents about their ward’s performance, Cyclic Test-1 Syllabus for preparatory and middle stage and Assessment -I syllabus of Foundational Stage. Together they identify the areas of strength and weakness of the child and sorted out ways to boost the child’s performance.
The colloquium helps to create better understanding between parents and teachers and build harmonious relationship between the school and the community.

VIII. RECORD YOUR POSITIVE ACTIONS ON THE WORLD EARTH DAY                                               

EARTH DAY is celebrated in SPPS Convent School, Bhogpur with a beautiful message – “Our continuing efforts in our everyday lives will make this beautiful planet thrive.” Echoing the same, sppsians celebrated “The Earth Day” through a series of activities on 22nd April on the theme “Planet Vs. Plastics”
As part of the Earth Day celebrations, a special assembly was conducted by Grade V students beginning with a morning prayer. Students took a pledge to preserve and conserve the self-sustaining planet Earth. Array of creative activities were organized with a view to motivate them to do their bit towards making their planet even more beautiful. Our Environmental conservationists from the Foundational Stage, Preparatory and the Middle Wing contributed by doing various activities to create maximum awareness. Our Toddlers wore Earth crown and flaunt themselves on stage. The Rainbow Dazzlers with the Earth Medals showcased their affection with Mother Earth. The Curious Champs got indulged in an activity of giving the Earth a helping hand by their creativity. The curators reflected themselves as Earth Saviors by highlighting their Earth Wrist Bands. Grade I -VII students promised for sustainability by protecting our planet from plastics through poster making, paper plant, paper bag, raising slogans, voicing their thoughts with a great zeal.

In tune with the Earth Day, a plantation drive was organized by the Principal Ms. Raminder Sharma Where our School’s Founder Mr. Sewa Singh and Ms. Kuldip Kaur planted saplings in School Premises along with our Managing Director Mr. Amandip Singh. They graced the occasion with their presence . The Curious Champs, the creative Curators, Grade I and Grade III students enthusiastically participated in Plantation drive to mark the occasion of Earth Day.

IX. FATHER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS:

LITTLE MOMENTS BIG MEMORIES- DAD & ME

“A father doesn’t tell you that he loves you; he shows you”

Father’s Day is a celebration honoring fathers by celebrating fatherhood, and the role of fathers and father figures in shaping the lives of their children.
The sppsians of SPPS Convent School, Bhogpur celebrated the selfless love of their fathers on 16th June. Rejoicing this precious bond, the students warmly honored their dads with a greeting card and by cutting a cake. 

The special bond thronged with dads enthusiastically involving themselves with their kids in different celebrations ideas. The day was celebrated in a very special way by honoring their fathers, their hero, by sharing their pictures with the school. The spirit of young students got flourished the way they celebrated Father’s Day. It is a time to depict their unending love and gratitude for their fathers. The students marked Father’s Day with different recipes and clicked remarkable pictures, made videos with their father to thank them for all the sacrifices which they make for them. The ambience is fun filled with smiles stretched wide everywhere.

XI . WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL AFTER LONG SUMMER BREAK

The silence in the SPPS Convent School campus was broken with the chirping of happy students as the school gates opened after the holidays. The students were back in school after a long summer break. A ‘Welcome Back to School’ assembly was hosted to motivate students for another happy and peppy term ahead. Students were accorded a warm welcome with joyful faces by their teachers. The assembly began with the chanting of the Mool Mantra infusing an aura of positivity. The post summer break meeting with companions filled everyone with liveliness and happiness. Students enjoyed fun-filled moments with friends today. Everyone enjoyed their day at school and walked back to their homes with bright faces, eager to witness what else session held for them

XII . PADDY FIELD VISIT – AN EXPEDITION PROGRAM ON AGRICULTURE

We live in the fast food era. The new generation does not know where the food they eat is cultivated and how. The hands-on experiential learning environment a farm provides is invaluable to the children’s educational growth. In an attempt to teach the students, the value of agriculture, SPPS has organized a field visit today for Grade IV students. The students visited a paddy field followed by the visit to school greener area in the morning where our Principal mam highlighted the structures of trees planted in campus. To understand practically about conventional farming of crop in the field was one of the main purposes of the visit. Students were very curious to learn & observe the cultivation of paddy. They also understood the problems faced by the farmers. They discussed about the irrigation pattern, methods of harvesting etc. Students were demonstrated traditional implementation of farming. The field visit has created episode memories for the students, which will help them retain information for longer periods. The student gained a tangible education as well that is multifaceted and intergenerational.

XIII . CAPTURE READING FLUENCY_ READ YOUR WAY THIS WORLD BOOK DAY

On this World Book Day, a day to celebrate reading and everything that makes books so unique. In SPPS Convent School, an exuberant activity as CAPTURE READING FLUENCY has been conducted for Grade I-VII students that provided them an excellent opportunity to reflect on the importance of reading aloud and unveiled the real essence of wisdom. Reading helps students learn to read, builds vocabulary, and fosters a love of books that will stay with them for life. The students of Grade I-VII took a moment to appreciate the power of books and thank all the teachers who make time each day to read aloud to them.

XIV . INVIGORATED ONLINE YOGA ON INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA

SPPS Convent School today successfully celebrated by invigorating the 10th International Yoga Day on the theme “Yoga for Self and Society” on zoom platform and it was well attended by sppsians the young enthusiasts their parents and the educators of the school. The students were trained to do yoga by a professional yoga trainer. The trainer began the session with Om chanting and prayer followed by Micro Practice involving various body parts’ movements. The yoga postures were then followed by pranayam(meditation) where the young enthusiasts patiently sat in the correct posture with their eyes closed .
The trainer then encouraged the students to actively perform the various Yoga Asanas like Tad Asana, Padhasthan Asana ,Ardh Chakraasana, Dand Asana,Bhadra Asana ,Vajra Asana, Shashank Asana, Makarasana , Bhujang asana, Shalabh asana , Utthanpadasana, Ardh halasana, Pawanmukt asana and the Shavasana.The happy and content faces of the children clearly showed that they were full of zeal and enjoyed the session thoroughly. The importance of these asanas was explained simultaneously by the yoga trainer. The importance of achieving and maintaining good health in all dimensions through lifestyle changes by abiding the principles of yoga was conveyed. The program ended with pledge taken by all the students’ teachers as well as principal to perform Yoga in day to day life. The SPPSIANS looked forward to a similar fun-filled session in the days coming ahead.
So on this Yoga Day, please do not restrict your celebrations to just a few minutes of physical exercises. Instead, take a deep dive inside your own Self and figure out how you can incorporate Yoga in your daily life and in society.

XV .NATIONAL READING DAY:

National Reading Day 2024 is celebrated on the 19th of June all across the country to honor the works of Shri P. N Panicker , the pioneer of the Indian library movement and his enduring legacy. At SPPS Convent School, we celebrate this day by embracing the joy and wisdom that books provide by adopting the reading culture.

Let’s come together to continue Mr.Panicker’s mission of promoting education and literacy for future generations. Happy Reading!

SPPS Convent School wishes you all a happy World Laughter Day! Take this day as an opportunity to teach yourself how to laugh at yourself properly. Learning to laugh at yourself enables you to be more vulnerable and more authentic – both are great traits to have.

XVII . WORLD HEALTH DAY: HEALTH AND WELLNESS

“The greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you”

Health and Wellness- World Health Day is celebrated each year on the 7th of April to emphasize the need to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. As a part of World Health Day, several activities were conducted by the kindergarten wing of SPPS Convent School under the theme of ‘My Health, My Right’. The Toddlers and Rainbow Dazzlers through play way danced on their favorite tunes that taught them mindfulness as it keeps them in shape, improves muscle tone & heart and lung health, enhances stamina, motor and aerobic fitness. As they acquired better control of their body, they also started feeling happier and more energized. The Curious Champs and the Creative Curators explored their body movements through yoga and exercise that is truly a secret to holistic wellness because it benefits mental, physical, psychological and emotional health.
